FALUCCA
Canvas, Character, and Craft.
Falucca is a homewares and accessories brand, designed in London and crafted in Egypt. As co-owner, I led the creative direction and developed the brand identity. The brand takes its name from the traditional Egyptian sailing boat "Feluca", a wooden vessel with heavy canvas sails, still a familiar presence on the River Nile today. Working with Egyptian cotton canvas, the collection draws inspiration from this sense of strength, utility, and movement, reimagining it through a contemporary lens. The identity balances sophistication with moments of playfulness. A bold, condensed wordmark introduces a timeless, slightly retro character, while the symbol above the “U” references the ancient hieroglyph for water, a subtle nod to the brand’s origins. Wood and water act as guiding themes, while the Falucca icon draws from the Ancient Egyptian deity Bennu, associated with the sun, creation, and rebirth. The colour palette is informed by the tones of the Nile and the pigments found in ancient wall paintings.
